France wants Russia on War Crime Charges

By Anthony Hines

The war in Syria is a continuous struggle for both sides. Guerrila warfare, where the enemy ambushes the other side through different methods, is causing it to be harder and harder for militaries to find who is a spy, or just a civilian. Usually going through each person is the best way to deal with them, and neutralize them before they take drastic actions; however, more drastic than those actions, are the actions of Russia.

Russia has begun bombing of Hospitals and Civilian centers, killing many searching for medical help, food, and water, just to kill one hidden militant. As much as a problem this is, they are denying it. The French President, Francois Hollande, has suggested that Russia is investigated for war crimes with the bombing on Syria. This would take place at the International Criminal Court (ICC). The ICC is to keep peaceful relations by having one country pay for another country they may have wronged.

There are a few problems with what is happening here. To start off, Russia nor Syria is apart of the ICC, so they aren’t forced to participate. Along with Russia, China hasn’t ratified it at all and the US doesn’t participate. However, US Secretary also called for War Crimes against both Russia and Syria, saying that this strategy goes beyond accidental, but indeed a deliberate strategy.
